some traditions are worth keeping.
its tradition in our house the monday night before valentines day we write love notes to each other.
it’s really quite simple.
a photo of each person in the family is glued to paper. (some years I am more festive then others). we pass the papers around until everyone has filled each other’s paper’s up with reasons why they love that person.
then they are posted up for all to enjoy!

favorite food: cookies, anything with sugar
favorite number: 4
favorite game: xbox connect sport.
favorite toy: jet airplanes
favorite sport: basketball
favorite quote this week: “it’s not my birthday!” he told the teacher at church.
“i’m just having a birthday party”.

miss lyla didn’t have one. alexander almost asked her to leave. geez!

P.S. I will be the first to admit the music is a little cheesy. It just worked, so I went with it.
A game we played throughout November was called Alexander’s Turkey Likes…..
I would either give him clues such as “something yellow and bumpy”
or I would give him a list of food items such as “cranberries, potatoes and bananas”.
He would have to put them in the turkey’s tummy (on the plate) in the order I listed them in.
I plan to make a Christmas activity using the same idea, but challenging him with more complex clues, or a longer list of objects.

Something we do every November is make gratitude turkeys for a family night activity. It is a wonderful language activity, especially since we are working on subject and object pronouns and descriptive words. Conversations have gone as follows. “I really like Zachary’s turkey. He made a yellow, pointed beak on the turkeys face. His turkey looks happy! What can you tell me about your turkey?”

It’s that time of year again when we search to find the perfect costume for our kids and possibly ourselves.
i have never been the type to purchase an already made costume for Halloween. In my opinion it takes all the fun and creativity out of it, Although this year my oldest son wants to be Draco Malfloy from Harry Potter. He fits the part almost too well. i toyed with making such a simple costume, but the cost of the Slytherin patch and fabric for the robe alone was the same price as the complete costume i found at www.halloweencostumes.com. They have great prices.
It’s ordered. Draco Malfloy is on its way.
Any ideas for Alexander? He has asked to be Yoda or Darth Vador, but i hesitate fully knowing his implants will slip off with something constantly rubbing on his head.
it was Christmas morning.
my little boys happy faces said it all as they discovered their Christmas treasures. i will always cherish this little gem. alexander had just woken up to find a ride-a-long thomas the tank engine waiting for him. (another perfect hand-me-down for this train loving boy).
it was a merry day.
The surgeons office called tonight and reported that Alexander's CT-Scan looks great! His bone structure is not the cause of his hearing loss.
