The world’s a smile
and we are smiling inhabitants
with people smiles
free-candy smiles
smarty-pants smiles
snotty smiles
top-of-the-Ferris-wheel smiles
hi-there smiles
joyful smiles
well-hidden I-know-you-saw-me smiles
half-hearted winter’s-coming smiles
you’ve-got-to-be-kidding smiles
victorious smiles
refrigerator’s-full smiles that make you smile
in a midnight milk and cookie sort of way
uncomfortable welfare-line smiles that never fit right
not-in-the-mood-to-smile smiles that never reach the eyes
sweaty smiles
smirking smiles
toothless smiles

Hi,
Just found your blog and can't believe we are on a similar journey. We have 5 boys, our second son was born deaf and received a cochlear implant and now 4 years later our fifth son has also been born deaf and I can't believe we are doing this again. He received his surgery Nov. 28 and will be activated on Friday! We are looking forward to a new year and gearing up for the long journey ahead. allboysmamav at gmail dot com
What a gorgeous family! Thanks for the comment - we certainly hope and pray with all our hearts that this surgeon has an idea of what is behind the crazy level of reflux and the motility issues - and we also pray that it is something easily fixed.
Those beach pictures look so enticing this time of year!
